Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 is at 1, Jalan Bukit Lanjan 3, Bukit Lanjan, Kuala Lumpur. [1] [2] Its admission office is on Level 2 and assists with planned admissions from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; appointments may be scheduled during a consultant-clinic visit or at the lobby admissions counter. [3] The same lobby counter handles general registration during those office hours. [4] For admissions after office hours, on weekends or public holidays, registration is at the 24-hour Accident and Emergency department on the ground floor. [5]

Preparing for admission

For scheduled surgery, the hospital recommends completing admission one day in advance but cannot guarantee room availability for admission on surgery day. [6] Patients are asked to bring an identity card, passport or birth certificate, a guarantee letter or health card, past medical records and personal items. [7] Before any surgery, patients must complete a consent form; for a patient under 18, a parent or guardian signs on their behalf. [8]

Billing and discharge arrangements

Patients without a guarantee letter are considered cash payers. [9] Room requests depend on availability and entitlement under the guarantee letter. [10] The final bill process begins once the consultant’s discharge order is received. [11] For cash payers, the bill is expected within approximately one hour from the discharge time ordered by the consultant. [12] For hospitalisation-insurance cases, verification and billing may take up to around five hours, depending on confirmation from the insurer. [13] Patients are notified when the bill is ready and may be asked to settle applicable subsistence fees at discharge. [14] The final bill includes medical expenses and breakage costs; a follow-up bill may be issued after discharge if any item or charge was inadvertently omitted. [15]

Discharge and refund timing

Standard discharge time is noon. Discharge from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. incurs an additional half-day room charge; after 5:00 p.m. the full day’s room rate applies. [16] When a payment exceeds the total bill, the hospital says refunds are based on the initial payment method and amount. Credit-card refunds are completed within 10 working days. For refund amounts exceeding RM500, the hospital facilitates refunds by cheque or telegraphic transfer (TT); a copy of the patient/payee’s identification card (IC) is required to verify cheque or TT refunds. [17] Excess-deposit refunds are processed only during office hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. For patients discharged on weekends or public holidays, refunds are processed on the next working day by cheque or TT. [18]
